30 Fair Trade Contributors Awarded Medals and Decorations

Han Ki-jung, Chairman of the Fair Trade Commission, stated on the 1st, "We will thoroughly monitor the abuse of dominance and unfair trade practices by platform operators."

Chairman Han made this remark in a commemorative speech at the 23rd Fair Trade Day event held at the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Seoul, saying, "We will strictly enforce the law without discrimination between domestic and foreign companies for actions that harm our market and citizens."

He said, "The enforcement of the Fair Trade Act does not discriminate based on nationality," adding, "The Fair Trade Commission will firmly respond to market disruption activities based on the capabilities and infrastructure it has built up."

Chairman Han emphasized, "To support the livelihood economy, we will strengthen monitoring of unfair practices occurring in areas closely related to the daily lives of citizens, such as essential goods, finance, and telecommunications."

He also added, "We will focus on guaranteeing the rightful share of small and venture businesses and improving the business conditions of small business owners, including franchisees."

About 120 people, including Park Il-jun, Executive Vice Chairman of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, representatives from organizing and related organizations, and contributors to fair trade, attended the event. Thirty fair trade contributors, including Professor Lee Bong-ui of Seoul National University, received medals and commendations for their contributions to the development of the fair trade system.
