Independent Jang Ye-chan Proposes "Conservative Unified Primary" in Busan Suyeong District

"Accepting Any Primary System... If Rejected, Will Only Look Forward"

Independent candidate Jang Ye-chan, running for the 22nd general election in the Busan Suyeong district, proposed a "unification primary for conservative victory" on the 1st.

At a press conference held at the Busan City Council that day, candidate Jang said, "A local candidate, a true conservative candidate, an independent surge supporting me until the end is rising," adding, "Many residents are worried that the situation might become favorable to the Democratic Party."

He continued, "No matter how unfavorable the conditions are, I will accept all of them," and added, "100% opinion polls are fine, 100% party member surveys are also fine."

Candidate Jang emphasized, "The residents' command is to protect Suyeong-gu through conservative unification," and said, "Those who refuse unification are siding with the Democratic Party. I hope People Power Party candidate Jeong Yeon-wook responds to the demand for conservative unification."

In case the unification primary is rejected, he said, "All responsibility will fall on candidate Jeong Yeon-wook," and "If candidate Jeong refuses the conservative unification proposal, I will keep running forward until the end."

Candidate Jang added, "I believe the residents of Suyeong-gu will choose me, who proposed unconditional unification," and "As the true conservative candidate, I will protect Suyeong-gu, win, and definitely return to the People Power Party."

Currently, in the district, People Power Party candidate Jeong Yeon-wook, Democratic Party candidate Yoo Dong-cheol, and candidate Jang are competing. Previously, Jang won the nomination by defeating incumbent lawmaker Jeon Bong-min in the People Power Party primary, but the nomination was canceled due to controversy over past remarks. Subsequently, the People Power Party nomination for Busan Suyeong-gu went to candidate Jeong Yeon-wook, and Jang, who left the party, is running as an independent.
