Sacheon-si Accelerates Establishment of Aviation Industry Ecosystem Foundation

South Korea's Aerospace Industry Hub City

Establishing a Definitive Status as the Space Capital

Sacheon City in Gyeongnam is putting all its efforts into building infrastructure linked to the Space Aviation Agency, including fostering a space aviation industry ecosystem and cultivating customized talent for aviation MRO sites in line with the opening of the Space Aviation Agency.

First, the city will support the growth of aviation companies to establish a solid status as the center of South Korea's aerospace industry and as the space capital.

This year, support will be provided for global marketing of aviation companies, aerospace industry parts manufacturers, strategic companies in the space aviation sector and defense companies, aerospace quality certification, management diagnosis of aerospace parts companies, and testing and certification fees for aviation parts companies.

Additionally, the city will support commercialization using ceramic fiber fusion composite materials for space aviation, establish an intelligent system for NC manufacturing processes of aerospace parts, and operate an aviation industry support group.

Furthermore, by promoting the ‘Field-customized Aviation MRO Workforce Training Support Project,’ the city will cultivate specialized personnel tailored to the demands of aviation companies and secure talent through employment linked with local aviation companies, actively creating a human-centered space aviation hub environment.

The city signed a business agreement with Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) to revitalize space aviation industry tourism and jointly operate the nation’s only industrial tourism tour program.

This industrial tourism tour program, linked with the ‘Sacheon Love City Tour,’ offers visits and experiential activities at the Aerospace Museum & Aerospace Science Center, the Aviation Center (observation deck) within Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI), and aircraft production sites (fixed-wing and rotary-wing buildings).

Earlier, since November last year, the city and KAI have been operating an integrated ticketing system that allows visitors to tour two facilities?the Sacheon Aerospace Science Center and the Aerospace Museum?receiving positive feedback from citizens and visitors.

Mayor Park Dongsik stated, “We will do our best to establish an aviation industry ecosystem and infrastructure for building a complex space aviation city in line with the opening of the Space Aviation Agency.”
