The Seobu Fire Station of Gwangju Metropolitan City will operate 'Hwamokhan Day' until December to foster a vibrant organizational culture.
Hwamokhan Day is an event held every Tuesday and Thursday for all Seobu Fire Station employees to create a community and a place of harmony through communication and empathy among staff.
Every Tuesday, under the theme 'First meetings are so difficult, High Five,' the day starts energetically with a high-five greeting accompanied by music during arrival time. It aims to build closeness through high-fives between departments and shift teams.
On Thursdays, under the theme 'Compliments Relay!,' employees share exemplary compliments about other staff members with all employees, and the compliment recipient then nominates the next person to be complimented.
Kim Hee-cheol, head of Seobu Fire Station, said, “We expect to improve the rigid organizational culture and foster bonds among employees through the practice of giving compliments,” adding, “We also hope this small event amid busy work life will promote mutual communication and vitality.”
