On the 31st, Federation of Korean Industries Officials Visited the Funeral Hall of Honorary Chairman Cho

Those connected to the Federation of Korean Industries (FKI) also visited the funeral hall to pay their respects to the late Cho Seok-rae, Honorary Chairman of Hyosung Group.


Son Gil-seung, Honorary Chairman of SK Telecom who worked with the deceased at the FKI, said after offering condolences, "He was well-versed in international relations and highly knowledgeable about technology, serving as a role model. I had many conversations with him during his lifetime," adding, "It is regrettable; I wish he could have stayed longer, especially in times like these."


Heo Chang-soo, Honorary Chairman of GS Group, who succeeded the late chairman as FKI president and served six consecutive terms from 2011, said, "I was the successor to the FKI chairman," and "I learned a lot from Honorary Chairman Cho." Ryu Jin, Chairman of Poongsan Group, who leads the Korean Business Association, the successor to the FKI, also joined the procession of mourners. Chairman Ryu said, "Our families have been very close since my father’s time," adding, "During his tenure as FKI chairman, he accomplished many significant projects, including constructing the headquarters building. Since I know Chairman Cho Hyun-joon well, I conveyed to him to diligently carry on his father’s legacy until the end."

On the second day of Chairman Cho Seok-rae’s funeral, key figures from the business and political sectors visited the funeral hall. Business leaders such as Koo Kwang-mo, Chairman of LG Group; Chung Mong-joon, Chairman of the Asan Foundation; Chung Ki-sun, Vice Chairman of HD Hyundai; Chung Ji-sun, Chairman of Hyundai Department Store Group; Lee Kyu-ho, Vice Chairman of Kolon; and Jang Jae-hoon, President of Hyundai Motor Company, as well as political figures including Kim Jin-pyo, Speaker of the National Assembly, and Sung Tae-yoon, Chief of Policy Office at the Presidential Office, came to honor the achievements left by the deceased during his lifetime.


Honorary Chairman Cho, who had been hospitalized at Seoul National University Hospital due to deteriorating health, passed away on the 29th at 6:38 p.m. at the age of 89. The funeral is being held over five days, with the farewell ceremony scheduled for the 2nd of next month. Former Prime Minister Lee Hong-gu is serving as the honorary funeral chairman, and Lee Sang-woon, Vice Chairman of Hyosung, is acting as the funeral chairman overseeing the proceedings.
