A crowd presumed to be military personnel was repeatedly spotted at the parade training ground in Pyongyang, North Korea, from the 23rd to the 27th, according to a report by Voice of America (VOA) on the 30th.
Satellite images from the private company Planet Labs on the 23rd showed traces of people leveling the ground or moving around at the parade training ground near Mirim Airfield. The next day, about 20 spots believed to have been formed by groups of troops were captured. Traces presumed to be from a march were also found.
North Korea has been gathering troops and vehicles here to prepare for parades. However, VOA noted, "Since parked vehicles typically spotted when training intensifies have not yet appeared, it is unclear whether North Korea is preparing a new parade."
In April, there are anniversaries such as the Day of the Sun (April 15), the birthday of Kim Il-sung, and the founding day of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army (April 25), on which North Korea has often held parades in the past.
Last year, North Korea held three parades: a midnight parade commemorating the 75th anniversary of the founding of the armed forces in February, a Victory Day parade in July, and a parade marking the 75th anniversary of the regime's establishment in September.
