Honorary Chairman Cho Seok-rae of Hyosung Group Passes Away... Hyosung Heavy Industries Changwon Plant 1 Memorial Altar Established

Cho Seok-rae, Honorary Chairman of Hyosung Group, passed away on the 29th at the age of 89.

Hyosung Group announced that Chairman Cho passed away peacefully at Seoul National University Hospital due to a long illness.

Chairman Cho was born in 1935 in Haman, Gyeongnam, as the eldest son of the late Cho Hong-je, founder of Hyosung Group, and Mrs. Ha Jeong-ok.

He majored in Applied Chemistry at Waseda University in Japan and earned a master's degree in Chemical Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology in the United States. Although he intended to become an engineering professor, he joined the group in 1966 after being called by his father while preparing for his doctoral studies.

He began his career as a manager by participating in the construction of the Dongyang Nylon Ulsan plant, a family-founded company, and was inaugurated as the 2nd Chairman of Hyosung Group in 1982.

He led the group for 35 years until 2017, when he stepped down from the front lines of management due to old age and health reasons.

Chairman Cho's funeral hall has been set up at the Severance Hospital funeral home in Sinchon, Seoul.

The funeral will be held as a Hyosung Group funeral for five days, and the memorial service is scheduled for April 2nd at 8 a.m.

Surviving family members include his wife Mrs. Song Gwang-ja, eldest son Chairman Cho Hyun-joon, second son former Vice President Cho Hyun-moon, and third son Vice Chairman Cho Hyun-sang.

A condolence altar for Chairman Cho will be set up on the first floor of the main building of Hyosung Heavy Industries Changwon Plant 1.

The condolence altar will be open from the 30th until the day of the funeral, operating from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
