Appointment of Members to Nowon Bio Policy Advisory Committee

On the 29th at 2 p.m., Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon District Office in Seoul, held the inauguration ceremony of the 'Nowon Bio Policy Advisory Group' in the small conference room on the 5th floor of the Nowon District Office.

The Nowon Bio Policy Advisory Group is an organization that proposes and advises on concrete implementation plans for the Seoul Nowon Biomedical Complex (SN-BMC) project, which aims to build a bio-medical industry ecosystem by attracting world-class research hospitals, related companies, and R&D research institutes to a 250,000㎡ (75,000 pyeong) site including the Changdong Vehicle Depot area in Nowon-gu and Seoul.

The district office began the establishment strategy project for the Seoul Nowon Biomedical Cluster (SN-BMC) on March 11, and recently reorganized and appointed experts to the existing bio policy advisory group, which was originally commissioned in May 2020, to align with the district’s new strategy.

The inauguration ceremony was held with the attendance of Mayor Oh Seung-rok, 11 members of the Nowon Bio Policy Advisory Group, and the project contractors, proceeding in the order of opening, greetings, awarding of appointment letters, project commencement report, advisory session, and discussion.

During the advisory and discussion session, in-depth expert discussions were held on the need to devise differentiated strategies that leverage Nowon-gu’s unique strengths compared to other already established bio complexes, strategies to link with the nearby Hongneung Bio Complex, corporate attraction strategies, urban planning strategies to maximize the use of the Changdong Vehicle Depot area, and continuous improvement of residential conditions, all aimed at establishing a district-specific strategy and guiding the direction of the project.

Mayor Oh Seung-rok stated, “Since the Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon’s recently announced ‘Gangbuk Area Grand Renovation’ plan includes this project, the establishment of the Nowon Biomedical Cluster holds an important status as a core project creating a new future for Nowon. Moving forward, we will listen to the advisory group’s valuable opinions and cooperate with Seoul City to establish a rational strategy for successful project implementation.”
