Launching Innovative Liberal Arts Education Focused on Experience and Practice for the MZ Generation
Presenting the Vision of "Growing Together, Achieving Together, Succeeding Together"
National Mokpo University (President Song Ha-cheol) announced on the 29th that it has completely revamped the 2024 academic year liberal arts education curriculum to be experience- and practice-centered, taking into account the characteristics of the MZ generation.
This curriculum reform aims for students to actively participate and internalize learning with enjoyment, fostering well-rounded liberal arts individuals needed in future society.
Accordingly, the Education Innovation Headquarters at National Mokpo University presented the vision of “Growing Together, Achieving Together, Succeeding Together,” and to realize this, newly established essential courses related to digital and AI, which are indispensable in future society, as well as courses emphasizing not only character education but also entrepreneurial spirit.

In addition, in the required liberal arts area, the ‘Arts and Leports’ area was newly created to provide an environment where students can experience and practice.
In this area, courses such as choir, understanding and appreciation of music, art and expression, and modern society and leports (golf, water sports, skiing, Pilates, etc.) were offered so that students can freely choose and enhance their cultural literacy.
Through choir and art expression classes, students learn how to express their emotions and thoughts through music and art activities, focus on music during the choir process, and develop collaboration and empathy skills with others. Leports classes help improve physical fitness, relieve stress, and build confidence.
Byunghun Seok, Director of the Education Innovation Headquarters at Mokpo University, stated, “The complete overhaul of the 2024 liberal arts education curriculum was carried out as an effort to nurture talents who can creatively respond to changes in future society, considering the characteristics of the MZ generation.”
He added, “We will continue to prioritize students’ needs and continuously develop the liberal arts education curriculum.”
