An Unprecedented Incident Since the Founding in 1961
Hanil Holdings has appointed an outside director as the chairman of the board for the first time since its founding.
Hanil Holdings announced on the 29th that it held its regular shareholders' meeting and board meeting on the 28th, appointing Professor Jeong Jong-ho of Seoul National University Graduate School of International Studies as an outside director and electing him as the chairman of the board. This is the first time since its establishment in 1961 that an outside director has been appointed as chairman.
Director Jeong, born in 1965, graduated from Seoul National University with a degree in Anthropology. He holds a master's degree in Anthropology from Seoul National University Graduate School and a Ph.D. in Anthropology (specializing in China) from Yale University in the United States. He is currently a professor at Seoul National University Graduate School of International Studies (International Area Studies). With expertise in international fields such as China, Director Jeong plans to provide direction for Hanil Holdings' development in various areas including innovative technology, environmental protection, and social responsibility based on a deep understanding of the global economy. His term is two years.
Hanil Holdings stated, "Appointing an outside director as chairman of the board strengthens the foundation for a professional outside director to oversee management from an objective perspective and lead decision-making," adding, "One of the corporate governance review indicators established by the Korea Exchange is the separation of the CEO and the chairman of the board."
