The Seoul Metropolitan Government is hosting a citizen participation event to promote the newly renewed Haechi & Soul Friends characters.
According to Seoul City on the 29th, the "Haechi Content Creation Contest" will be held until the 24th of next month to convey the image of a "healthy, FUN, and hip Seoul" through Haechi with the participation of citizens.
This contest is designed not simply to receive promotional content and award excellent works, but to incorporate various images of Seoul into the Haechi character. The contest focuses on content reflecting the Haechi & Soul Friends character universe in nine categories including drawings, animations, Insta-toons, original songs, and short-form videos. People of all ages, from children to adults, can easily participate.
Submissions are accepted from April 1 to April 24 through the Naeson-an-ui Seoul (Seoul in My Hand) website. The city will select a total of 333 winning works based on creativity, relevance, and popularity, and announce the results on the city’s official website on the 29th of next month. Winners will receive a certificate from the Mayor of Seoul and prize money. The prize money totals 17.4 million KRW, with 3 million KRW for the grand prize (1 winner), 2 million KRW for the excellence prize (1 winner), and 1 million KRW for the merit prize (1 winner per category).
Outstanding works in the children’s category will be exhibited in public spaces such as the city hall. Additionally, excellent works in categories like animation and Insta-toons from the general division will have the opportunity to be broadcast worldwide through Seoul City’s official media (digital billboards, SNS, etc.). Winners in the animation and short-form video categories will be appointed as Haechi Creators, given future opportunities to produce Haechi content, and invited to major city events.
Ma Chaesuk, Director of Public Relations Planning at Seoul City, said, "This contest was initiated not just to massively promote the characters created by Seoul City, but to provide an opportunity for citizens to participate together and enjoy it collectively." She added, "We hope that through the active participation of citizens, our Haechi will be infused with health, fun, and hipness."
