Sports Betting Company BetMGM Tops Rankings
Lowest Odds... Highest Winning Probability Since Woods
McIlroy and Rahm in Top Ranks, Im Sungjae Best Korean Player
The probability of world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler (USA) winning the Masters is increasing.
According to data compiled on the 27th (local time) by sports betting company BetMGM Sportsbook, Scheffler's odds of winning the Masters are +450, significantly ahead of Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland) and Jon Rahm (Spain), both at +1000. Odds of +450 mean that a $100 bet would return $450 plus the original $100 stake. This is the lowest odds recorded since 2013, except for when the 'Golf Emperor' Tiger Woods (USA) had +350 odds before the Masters.
Last summer, Scheffler's odds were +950, but before the Arnold Palmer Invitational this year, they dropped to +850, and before The Players Championship, they further decreased to +550. After Scheffler won the Arnold Palmer Invitational and The Players Championship consecutively, his odds dropped to +450 ahead of the Masters starting on April 11.
Viktor Hovland (Norway), Jordan Spieth (USA, both +1800), Xander Schauffele and Brooks Koepka (both USA, +2000) were also classified as contenders. Im Sung-jae's odds were +5500, the highest among Korean players. Tiger Woods, returning to the field this season, had odds of +10000, the same as Kim Si-woo, Phil Mickelson (USA), and Nicolai Højgaard (Denmark).
