Minimizing Resident Inconvenience with 5 Free Shuttle Bus Routes Operating from 5 AM on the 28th
Free Shuttle Bus Operation Information Provided via District News Alert Service (Text), District Office Website, and Bus Stop Notices
On March 28, as the Seoul city bus labor union carried out a strike, Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Su-hee) announced that it is making every effort to reduce inconvenience to residents by proactively preparing emergency transportation measures such as operating free shuttle buses.
Starting from 5 a.m. on the 28th, the district deployed a total of 35 emergency transportation buses (with 25 seats or more) as free shuttle buses, establishing five temporary routes to facilitate smooth transfers between subway stations and users.
The five temporary emergency transportation bus routes are as follows: Route 1 passes through Godeok Lien Park, Gangdong Public Garage, Gangdong Riverst, Gangil River Park, and Gangil Station; Route 2 passes through Godeok Station, Sangil-dong Station, Central Veterans Hospital Station, and Myeongil Station; Route 3 passes through Samsung Engineering, Sangil Elementary School, Gangdong Sacred Heart Hospital, and Gildong Station; Route 4 passes through Amsa Station, Cheonho Station, Gangdong Station, Gildong Station, Gubeundari Station, and Myeongil Station; Route 5 passes through Gangdong-gu Office Station, Cheonho Station, Gangdong Station, and Dunchon-dong Station. These operate at intervals of about 10 minutes.
To ensure smooth operation of the emergency transportation buses, one public official is assigned per bus vehicle. The assigned officials are responsible for guiding the emergency transportation routes and managing bus dispatch.
In addition to the emergency transportation buses, the district is also deploying reserve village buses and extending the first and last bus operation times to increase service frequency, striving to secure transportation options for residents. Furthermore, Gangdong-gu has established an Emergency Transportation Countermeasures Headquarters and monitors traffic trends in real time through a situation room, maintaining a 24-hour communication system with related organizations such as the Seoul Metropolitan Government.
To ensure many residents can access emergency transportation information, the district is thoroughly providing guidance by posting shuttle bus operation notices at each bus stop and sending notification messages. Detailed information such as shuttle bus routes can be checked on the Gangdong-gu Office website and on notices posted at each bus stop.
Mayor Lee Su-hee of Gangdong-gu said, “We have urgently prepared emergency transportation measures linking areas vulnerable to public transportation due to the city bus strike with subway stations,” and added, “We will actively work to minimize inconvenience to residents caused by the strike by mobilizing all administrative capabilities.” She also requested, “We ask for cooperation in using alternative transportation methods such as village buses, subways, and carpooling to wisely overcome the traffic difficulties.”
