Lee Jae-myung Holds 3.1 Billion KRW... Park Jung Reports 34 Billion KRW
The political party with the highest average wealth per member of the National Assembly was found to be the People Power Party. Except for one individual, all asset holders with over 10 billion KRW belong to the People Power Party.
According to the 2024 regular asset change report of National Assembly members disclosed by the National Assembly Public Officials Ethics Committee on the 28th, the average wealth of 108 members of the People Power Party is 5.86559 billion KRW. Excluding members Ahn Cheol-soo (140.13 billion KRW) and Park Deok-heum (56.22 billion KRW), who each hold over 50 billion KRW, the average drops to 4.12326 billion KRW. The average wealth of all 291 National Assembly members is 3.4347 billion KRW.
The average wealth of 166 members of the Democratic Party of Korea is 2.0347 billion KRW, and the four members of the Justice Party reported an average of 709.62 million KRW. The Korean Hope Party, with only one incumbent member Yang Hyang-ja, reported 3.95982 billion KRW; the Progressive Party (Kang Sung-hee) reported 773.93 million KRW; and the Basic Income Party (Yong Hye-in) reported 556.54 million KRW.
The average wealth of 10 independents, including National Assembly Speaker Kim Jin-pyo, is 2.53087 billion KRW. Among them, the member with the highest assets is Yang Jeong-sook, who reported 9.32834 billion KRW. The member with the largest increase in assets was Kim Nam-guk, who recorded an increase of 1.52841 billion KRW, totaling 3.06219 billion KRW. Kim Nam-guk, who caused a 'coin controversy' in the National Assembly last year, reported holding virtual assets worth approximately 1.54644 billion KRW, including 994,900 TORNADO tokens, about 155,680 APE&FT tokens, and about 456,930 Klaytn tokens. The types of investment coins reached 78.

Looking at the wealth status of party leadership, Han Dong-hoon, the emergency committee chairman of the People Power Party, is not an incumbent, so his asset details were not separately compiled. Floor leader Yoon Jae-ok reported 2.44 billion KRW, a decrease of 580 million KRW. The largest decrease was due to changes in the value of buildings including apartments in Ogeum-dong, Songpa-gu, Seoul, and apartments in Dalseo-gu, Daegu, held under his and his spouse’s names. Policy Committee Chairman Yoo Ui-dong reported an increase of 18 million KRW, totaling 680 million KRW, and Kim Ye-ji, the only incumbent among the emergency committee members, reported 920 million KRW.
Among the Democratic Party leadership, party leader Lee Jae-myung reported 3.11 billion KRW, a decrease of 330 million KRW. Lee disclosed all asset items of his spouse and children, with the largest decreases in building values and family consumption expenditures. Floor leader Hong Ik-pyo reported 8.34 billion KRW. The largest changes were due to the expiration of the lease on an apartment in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, and the new lease contract on an apartment in Seocho-gu. This appears to be related to his move from the Seoul Jung-gu Seongdong-gu Gap district to the Seocho-gu E district. Policy Committee Chairman Lee Gae-ho reported 3.14 billion KRW.
Among the Democratic Party’s highest-ranking officials, Senior Supreme Councilor Jeong Cheong-rae reported 1.51 billion KRW, Supreme Councilor Go Min-jeong reported 903.28 million KRW, Supreme Councilor Park Chan-dae reported 2.76549 billion KRW, Supreme Councilor Seo Young-kyo reported 2.84168 billion KRW, and Supreme Councilor Jang Kyung-tae reported 723.6 million KRW.

Among the top three wealthiest members of the ruling party, the People Power Party, are Ahn Cheol-soo (140.11 billion KRW), Park Deok-heum (56.28 billion KRW), and Jeon Bong-min (39.55 billion KRW). Ahn is ranked first in wealth among all National Assembly members, with an increase of 5.43 billion KRW compared to the previous report, reflecting factors such as the rise in the stock price of AhnLab, which constitutes most of his assets. Other members holding over 10 billion KRW include Baek Jong-heon (33 billion KRW), Lee Ju-hwan (25.88 billion KRW), Yoon Sang-hyun (24.05 billion KRW), Han Mu-kyung (19.18 billion KRW), Jung Woo-taek (17.56 billion KRW), and Kang Ki-yoon (12.02 billion KRW), totaling nine members.
In the Democratic Party, Park Jeong was the only member holding over 10 billion KRW. Although Park reported a decrease of 16.54 billion KRW compared to last year, marking the largest drop among all National Assembly members, he ultimately reported 34.05 billion KRW.
The total building value in Park’s assets reached 39.84 billion KRW. He reported a detached house in Paju-si, Gyeonggi Province, a building in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul, and a neighborhood living facility in Seokchon-dong, Songpa-gu. The value of the Sangam-dong building reached 37.19 billion KRW. The decrease in assets was due to changes in valuation methods, gifts, and transfers related to unlisted stocks such as Amazon Car Co., held under his and his spouse’s names.
The second wealthiest member in the Democratic Party was floor leader Hong Ik-pyo, and the third was Kim Hong-gul (7.89 billion KRW). Kim reported building assets alone worth 9.76 billion KRW. He declared ownership of land and buildings including a neighborhood living facility in Donggyo-dong, Mapo-gu, commercial buildings in Seodaemun-gu, and also held an apartment in Banpo-dong, Seocho-gu, under his spouse’s name, valued at 3.37 billion KRW.
