The prosecution has requested an arrest warrant for the CEO of a construction company who was indicted without detention on charges of bribing former Democratic Party lawmaker Im Jong-seong.
The Criminal Division 6 of the Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Choi Soon-ho) announced on the 27th that it has requested arrest warrants for three individuals, including A and B, co-CEOs of an artificial turf company, on charges of violating the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes (fraud) and obstruction of official duties by deception.
They are accused of obtaining unfair profits from the Public Procurement Service by using false test reports and inflating costs during the supply of artificial turf installed at public institutions such as school playgrounds and local government sports facilities. The actual profits they obtained amount to approximately 30.8 billion won.
A, who is also the CEO of a construction company located in former lawmaker Im's electoral district, paid 97.1 million won for the interior and fixtures of the local election office established for the 21st general election. Additionally, A employed Im's son as a staff member for about a year and also covered 5 million won in plastic surgery expenses.
