Youth Foundation Supports Over 60 Isolated and Reclusive Youth... Operating the 'Youth Change-Up Project' [‘Youth Change-Up Project’ Participant Recruitment Poster]

The Youth Foundation (hereinafter referred to as the Foundation) announced on the 27th that it will launch the ‘Youth Change-Up Project,’ which provides phased and customized support to about 60 socially isolated and reclusive youth.

The ‘Youth Change-Up Project’ is a program designed to offer short- and long-term programs to socially isolated and reclusive youth who face difficulties in social adaptation and independence, aiming to build emotional support systems, expand relationships, and restore willpower among youth.

To provide effective support for youth, the Foundation collaborates with four organizations: PureunGorae Recovery Center (Recovery Center), Gonggamin, Knowledge Circulation Social Cooperative (Jisunhyup), and Anmuseounhoesa.

The Foundation and each organization provide in-depth support tailored to the situations and characteristics of isolated youth through programs such as △Health and Recovery (Recovery Center) △Empathy and Healing (Gonggamin) △Relationship Formation (Jisunhyup) △Reclusive Experts (Anmuseounhoesa).

First, the Recovery Center offers activities for the health and recovery of socially isolated and reclusive youth through the ‘Recovery Again’ program.

Youth will participate in activities such as △Physical Health Recovery (baseball, running) △Emotional Health Recovery (art therapy, art play, film production workshops) △Relationship Health Recovery (cooking lunch, board games, MBTI workshops) △Intellectual Health Recovery (writing classes, drawing comics).

Gonggamin operates the psychological and emotional stabilization program for isolated youth called ‘A Time to Be Comforted and Healed by People, Meeting My Allies - It’s Okay,’ which focuses on empathy and healing.

This program targets youth who need friends to share loneliness with, want to find joy in daily life, or wish to care for themselves by sharing their stories.

Youth will participate in △Talking to My Heart (expressing my feelings through picture books, feeling my emotions through films) △Time to Meet Myself (deep self-reflection ‘My Side,’ inner thoughts walk, art workshops) △Safe Communication Community (making close friends who share my feelings, writing heart friends, inner thoughts walk, knot party).

Jisunhyup runs the ‘Existence Camp,’ a community program for relationship building and career competency enhancement for socially isolated and reclusive youth at Seoul Geumcheon Agit (Hongsi Housing) and Gyeonggi Uiwang Agit (Youth Cooperative Dwitbuk).

Youth who want to build meaningful peer relationships or plan their careers and social activities can participate in relationship-building community programs (mentoring, networking) and workshops to improve interpersonal and career skills through this program.

Additionally, Anmuseounhoesa operates the ‘Reclusive Expert Training Program’ for individuals who have repeatedly experienced isolation crises. ‘Reclusive Experts’ are youth who have overcome their own reclusive experiences and support other reclusive youth as peer supporters.

Participating youth will have opportunities such as △Healing theater camps and performances (professional living theater certification course) △Supporting peers using their reclusive experience as a qualification △Gaining practical experience in counseling, coaching, field trips, and education △One-on-one counseling with Reclusive Experts.

The Youth Foundation stated, “Youth isolation is deepening due to difficulties in employment, unemployment, and social pressures, and the resulting social costs are expected to be enormous. We will serve as a strong pillar to help youth open their hearts and make vigorous changes.”
