Lee Jeong-sik, Minister of Employment and Labor, stated that he will communicate more with youth, unorganized workers, and women during the process of promoting labor reform.
On the 22nd, at the 'Future of Labor Forum' held in Myeong-dong, Seoul, Minister Lee met with young people and said, "The government is prioritizing labor reform to create jobs and workplaces where people want to work for the youth and future generations."
Minister Lee emphasized, "Based on the rule of law in labor relations, we will correct unreasonable practices that youth may face, such as wage arrears and workplace harassment, and improve the quality of jobs. We will continuously work to improve the dual structure of the labor market and the resulting unfair disparities."
He continued, "The government will communicate more with youth, unorganized workers, and women, listen carefully to the difficulties in the field, and regardless of any challenges, we will complete labor reform to respond to the voices from the field and find solutions."
The Future of Labor Forum was launched in March last year with the purpose of hearing the voices of youth regarding labor reform. It consists of about 30 young people including university students, employees, and youth activists. At the forum, the second-term committee members who will be active this year discussed "Labor Reform Desired by Youth in 2024."
