Yeongdeok-gun held a meeting on the 26th to review the status of securing national and provincial funds for 2025.
About 100 participants, including Vice County Governor Kim Dong-hee and senior staff from all departments, attended this review meeting. They concretized the national fund acquisition plans derived from the early-year work report in January and engaged in heated discussions to devise strategic execution plans for newly discovered projects that will drive regional development and growth.

They also agreed to continuously propose the construction of the East-West transversal Andong-Yeongdeok railway to improve accessibility to the metropolitan area.
Additionally, to establish a foundation for utilizing the region’s abundant marine and fisheries resources, they included new projects such as the Chuksan Port harbor function maintenance project with 1.6 billion KRW and the Deep Sea Marine Bio Bank construction with 200 million KRW. They also proposed national projects including the construction of the National Marine Biological Species Restoration Center with 21.4 billion KRW and the coastal maintenance project for the Baekseok-Goraebul district with 500 million KRW, aiming to secure a total of 11 national projects amounting to 278 billion KRW in national funding.

To develop unique cultural tourism resources, they requested 3.6 billion KRW for projects such as the East Coast National Trail construction, the national folk Gyesi Village maintenance project, and the maintenance of the scenic ‘Ok-gye Chimsoojeong’ pavilion.
Finally, to strengthen the competitiveness of local agriculture and fisheries and create livable rural fishing villages, they planned to secure 124.9 billion KRW in national and provincial funds for 119 projects, including the Fisheries New Vitality Promotion Project (such as Changdae Port) with 2.1 billion KRW, the Rural Agreement with 1 billion KRW, agricultural specialty product exhibition, experience, and sales facilities with 1 billion KRW, vulnerable area living improvement projects with 300 million KRW, and natural disaster risk improvement districts and flood damage living area maintenance projects with 18.4 billion KRW.
Yeongdeok-gun plans to actively implement and review strategies for securing national funds starting with this review meeting and will hold additional meetings to adjust established strategies and further subdivide role assignments as needed.
At this meeting, County Governor Kim Gwang-yeol encouraged, “Although local autonomy and decentralization are emphasized for future value, there are structural limitations that cannot be overcome with limited local resources alone. To overcome this, let us firmly establish cooperation systems with Gyeongbuk Province and central government ministries through the External Cooperation Officer system and the operation of the Sejong office, and accomplish the urgent priority task of securing national funds.”
