Holding a Cheongsachorong Lantern, Strolling Through the Moonlit Garden

'Changdeokgung Moonlight Tour' Resumes on the 11th of Next Month

The 'Changdeokgung Moonlight Tour,' where participants carry Cheongsachorong lanterns and stroll through the rear garden, will resume on the 11th of next month. The Cultural Heritage Administration's Palace and Royal Tombs Division and the Korea Cultural Heritage Foundation announced on the 27th that the tour will be held six times a day on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays until June 2nd.

This is a nighttime tour that allows visitors to naturally experience the history, culture, and landscaping of Changdeokgung Palace while listening to stories from professional guides. Participants carry Cheongsachorong lanterns and visit Donhwamun Gate, Geumcheon Bridge, Injeongjeon Hall, Huijeongdang Hall, Nakseonjae Hall, Sangnyangjeong Pavilion, Buyongji Pond, Aeryeonjeong Pavilion and Aeryeonji Pond, Yeongyeongdang Hall, the rear garden forest path, and Geumhomun Gate in sequence. Visitors can also enjoy traditional performing arts such as the deep and clear daegeum flute performance (at Sangnyangjeong) and the royal court dance created by Crown Prince Hyomyeong (at Yeongyeongdang). The latter is a performance of instrumental music, singing, and dance that was held at royal banquets.

Near the rear garden forest path, lighting using gobos has been installed. Traditional patterned lights are cast, allowing visitors to enjoy the feeling of walking along a flower path. A gobo is a device consisting of a small stainless steel alloy disc with shapes, pictures, or symbols cut out, which is mounted on the aperture of stage lighting equipment.

Tickets will be available for reservation on Ticketlink starting the 28th. Each person can purchase up to two tickets. Seniors aged 65 and over, persons with disabilities, and national merit recipients can also book by phone. The participation fee is 30,000 KRW.
