Mercury Joins AI@Home Alliance Operating Committee with Ministry of Science and ICT and Samsung Electronics

Mercury, a specialized information and communication equipment company, is participating as an operating committee member of the ‘AI@Home’ alliance alongside the Ministry of Science and ICT, Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, Naver Cloud, and others to foster and expand the intelligent home industry ecosystem.

Following the supply of approximately 600,000 units of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth modules last year, Mercury, which expects to supply more than double that volume this year, was recently selected as the communication module developer for a major domestic BMS company. Additionally, Mercury is developing Matter modules for Wi-Fi to be used in home appliances and is currently negotiating supply for products destined for the U.S. market.

According to Mercury on the 27th, CEO Hwang Ha-young attended the AI@Home alliance launch ceremony and the opening of the Matter standard international accredited testing and certification center held the previous day at the Gyeonggi-do Pangyo Corporate Support Hub as a device manufacturer representative.

The AI@Home alliance aims to foster and expand the intelligent home industry ecosystem through private sector leadership. A total of 12 organizations and companies, including the Ministry of Science and ICT, Korea Information and Communication Technology Association (TTA), National IT Industry Promotion Agency, Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, KT, and Naver Cloud, participate as operating committee members.

The AI@Home alliance envisions maximizing user convenience and improving quality of life by promoting the development and application of AI-based home solutions through collaboration among participating companies and institutions. To this end, the alliance plans to engage in various activities such as technology sharing, joint research and development, standardization efforts, and market expansion strategies.

Participating as a device manufacturer, Mercury plans to introduce innovative AI-based products and solutions to a broader market and seek opportunities to create new user experiences through collaboration with other companies.

Mercury evaluates its participation in the AI@Home alliance as recognition of its technological capabilities and its ability to cultivate the Internet of Things (IoT) ecosystem developed over several years.

CEO Hwang Ha-young of Mercury stated, “AI technology can permeate every corner of the home, making our daily lives more convenient and intelligent. Through this alliance participation, the company aims to contribute to the development of the intelligent home industry and plans to actively expand its business portfolio to include not only Wi-Fi APs and home modems but also devices necessary for building smart homes.”

Meanwhile, Mercury has solidified its position as a device supplier for Wi-Fi, Z-Wave, Zigbee, and Bluetooth modules and has been expanding orders from home appliance and construction companies since 2022. It supplied about 600,000 units last year and expects to supply more than double that volume this year. Recently, it was selected as the communication module developer for a major domestic BMS company, with supply expected to begin in the second half of this year.

Mercury is also increasing its product lineup supporting the global IoT standard Matter. Matter is a global home IoT standard developed to solve interoperability issues among IoT devices from different manufacturers such as Google, Amazon, Samsung Electronics, and LG Electronics. It is currently mandatory for export products sold to overseas markets like Amazon.

Additionally, Mercury is developing Matter modules for Wi-Fi for home appliances and is negotiating supply for products destined for the U.S. market. The Wi-Fi AP Matter hub product is in the final stages of development, aiming for commercialization in the first half of this year.

A Mercury representative stated, “With the official opening of the Matter standard international accredited testing and certification center at the Korea Information and Communication Technology Association (TTA), we plan to proceed with TTA certification for the products currently under development.”
