Recent Police Complaint Filed Against Student Perpetrator
In Sacheon City, Gyeongnam Province, a high school student committed a terror act by putting bodily fluids into a female teacher's tumbler at a private high school.
According to the Gyeongnam Office of Education and the police on the 26th, last September, male student A at the high school put his bodily fluids into the tumbler of contract female teacher B. The incident occurred when B briefly left her post while supervising 40 male students during night self-study in the dormitory to go to the restroom.
On the 20th, B revealed the victimization to the National Petition Board and recently filed a complaint against A with the police. Regarding this, B stated, "Deep down, out of a sense of responsibility and duty as a teacher, I did not want to pursue disciplinary actions such as a complaint or expulsion that could have a significant impact on the perpetrator student's life."

B added that she wanted to hear sincere reflection and apologies from the perpetrator student and his parents, but no one apologized. She also claimed that the school tried to cover up the incident with a passive attitude.
However, the school stated that at the time of the incident, A and B were separated, and since B wanted leniency for the student, the school took internal disciplinary measures. It was reported that A received special education at school and was not allowed to attend school for two weeks.
The Gyeongnam Office of Education said it provided B with information on support projects for recovery from sexual violence and plans to visit the school where the incident occurred to verify the specific facts.
Under current law, bodily fluid terror acts involving objects such as tumblers, rather than people, are subject to charges of property damage rather than sexual crimes. In this regard, Baek Hye-ryun, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, proposed a revision to the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Crimes in 2021 to include provisions allowing criminal punishment for tumbler bodily fluid terror acts. The bill is currently pending in the National Assembly's Legislation and Judiciary Committee.
