Passenger Who Lost Phone at Daegu Airport 2 Years Ago
"Kept Promise to Return It After 2 Years," Airport Staff
Two years ago, a passenger at the airport dropped their mobile phone inside an escalator. Unfortunately, it fell into a deep spot where it could not be retrieved. In response, an employee promised, "There is a remodeling plan in two years, so we will find it then," and finally kept that promise.
On the 26th, Korea Airports Corporation Daegu Airport announced that an airport employee did not forget and found a mobile phone that a customer lost at the airport two years ago. On January 23, 2022, passenger A, who took a flight returning from Jeju to Daegu, dropped their mobile phone outside the escalator handrail. The phone fell into a gap between the escalator finishing and the external window finishing, dropping under the escalator steel frame, making it impossible to retrieve without lifting the equipment.
The person in charge, B, who was asked for help, judged that it was difficult to find the phone immediately and promised A, "There is a plan to relocate the escalator as part of the Daegu International Airport remodeling project," and "We will find your phone in two years." Additionally, B kept in contact with A to keep the promise, sharing updates on the remodeling construction progress and the scheduled escalator relocation date.
Finally, on the 13th, as the escalator relocation began, the phone that had not been found for two years was discovered and safely returned to A. A expressed gratitude, saying, "Thank you for not forgetting and finding the memories stored in my phone over the past two years."
Meanwhile, Daegu Airport has been carrying out passenger terminal expansion and remodeling construction since March 2019. Originally scheduled for completion in 2023, the construction period has been extended, and finishing work is currently ongoing.
Jeon Seong-yeol, head of Korea Airports Corporation Daegu Airport, stated, "We will continue to enhance customer service value and become a trusted Daegu Airport," adding, "We will successfully complete the Daegu Airport passenger terminal remodeling project to respond to the increasing air travel demand in the region until the opening of Daegu-Gyeongbuk Integrated New Airport."
