The Cheongju new factory, completed on January 29 this year, is a core facility for Lotte's new business venture into the electric vehicle charger industry. Automated systems such as Automated Mobile Robots (AMR) and inline conveyor belt lines have been introduced, expanding production capacity to about 20,000 units annually. It is capable of producing chargers at various levels, from slow chargers to medium-speed, fast, and ultra-fast chargers.

During the visit, Chairman Shin inquired about the versatility of electric vehicle chargers and performance testing under extreme conditions, reviewing the business status. He urged, “Based on a diverse product lineup and quality such as stability, please actively pursue overseas expansion beyond the domestic market.”

EVSIS has obtained the European CE certification (European Conformity) at all stages and is preparing for global expansion by completing ultra-fast charger certification in the United States and charger certification for all lineups in Japan within the first half of this year. Since last year, it has been participating in CES to establish its presence as an electric vehicle charger brand. Earlier this year, at CES 2024 in the United States, it showcased a 1MW-class charger prototype that can fully charge a standard passenger car (70 kW) in 5 minutes, attracting significant attention from domestic and international stakeholders.

Lotte Innovate has installed and operated more than 4,000 chargers in urban-adjacent areas by leveraging Lotte Group’s business infrastructure in distribution, hotels, and other sectors up to last year. Based on the expanded production capacity, EVSIS plans to supply 7,500 chargers domestically by the end of this year. EVSIS has also started developing megawatt-class chargers for future large-capacity mobility such as electric ships.

Meanwhile, Lotte is enhancing its business portfolio centered on four new growth themes: Bio & Wellness, Mobility, Sustainability, and New Life Platform. The electric vehicle charger business is part of the mobility sector initiatives.
