KOSDAQ Rises Over 1% on Foreigners' Net Buying
The KOSPI index closed slightly lower at the 2730 level as foreigners and institutions both took a 'sell' stance. The KOSDAQ index closed higher, rising more than 1% on net buying by foreigners.
On the 25th, the KOSPI index closed at 2737.57, down 10.99 points (0.40%) from the previous session. The index started the day slightly higher but gave up all intraday gains and turned downward.
By investor type, foreigners and institutions sold net amounts of 41.9 billion KRW and 290.7 billion KRW respectively, pulling the index down. Individuals were the sole buyers, purchasing 330.6 billion KRW worth. Program trading also recorded a net sell of 166.7 billion KRW, combining arbitrage and non-arbitrage trades.
By sector, Medical Precision (-2.06%) led the declines, followed by Electric and Gas Utilities (-1.66%), Securities (-1.61%), Construction (-1.53%), Textile and Apparel (-1.37%), Finance (-1.18%), and Transportation Equipment (-1.16%), all falling more than 1%. However, Steel and Metals (0.87%), Pharmaceuticals (0.71%), and Food and Beverage (0.65%) sectors rose.
Among the top market capitalization stocks, the close was mixed. Samsung Electronics (-0.89%), SK Hynix (-0.24%), Samsung Electronics Preferred (-1.50%), Hyundai Motor (-1.64%), and Kia (-1.24%) declined, while LG Energy Solution (0.24%), Celltrion (0.37%), POSCO Holdings (0.82%), and Samsung SDI (2.86%) rose.
Meanwhile, on the same day, the KOSDAQ index closed at 913.69, up 9.71 points (1.07%) from the previous session. The index started slightly higher and expanded gains to close up more than 1%.
By investor type, foreigners and institutions were net buyers of 197.8 billion KRW and 16 billion KRW respectively. Individuals sold 198.9 billion KRW worth.
