Life Wisdom Learned Through Dodurimer Magoksa Templestay in Dongdaemun-gu

Workshop on Temple Stay Experience Held at Magoksa Temple in Gongju, Chungnam on 21-22: A Time to Recharge by Forgetting Stress and Worries

Life Wisdom Learned Through Dodurimer Magoksa Templestay in Dongdaemun-gu

Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) held the ‘Emptying and Filling Dodreumer Templestay Workshop’ for 1 night and 2 days from March 21 to 22 at Magoksa Temple (Gongju-si, Chungcheongnam-do).

This workshop was organized for Dodreumer (DO DREAMER), Dongdaemun-gu’s junior board and policy research and idea discovery group, to feel the preciousness of nature at a temple surrounded by clear skies and green forests, and to gain the driving force to come up with new ideas by temporarily escaping from daily life.

The schedule included exploring the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Tomb of King Muryeong and the royal tomb park, followed by a templestay at Magoksa, a thousand-year-old temple imbued with the energy of Taehwasan Mountain. Through temple tours, bell-ringing experiences, walking the Baekbeom meditation path, and performing 108 prostrations, the staff found mental and physical stability and had time to recharge.

On the first day, the 21st, Dongdaemun-gu Mayor Lee Pil-hyung participated in the templestay program with the staff, spending a meaningful time together.

On that day, Dongdaemun-gu and Magoksa Temple signed a business agreement based on mutual trust to enable more employees to experience temple culture and rest in nature through templestay programs.

Mayor Lee Pil-hyung said, “Through this templestay, I hope that the accumulated stress and worries have been emptied, that you have learned a relaxed way and attitude toward life, and gained the wisdom to move forward.”
