COP Korea Appointed as Chairman Company of Shinan Floating Offshore Wind Industry Association

“We Will Strive for the Development of the Offshore Wind Power Industry Ecosystem and Community Growth”

COP Korea (Copenhagen Offshore Partners), a domestic offshore wind project developer under CIP (Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners), the world's largest green energy investment management company, announced that it has been elected as the chairman company of the Shinan Floating Offshore Wind Industry Association and held an inauguration ceremony.


The inauguration ceremony for COP Korea, which will serve as the association's second chairman company, was held on the afternoon of the 25th with the attendance of Park Woo-ryang, Mayor of Shinan County, Yoo Tae-seung and Jonathan Spink, co-CEOs of COP Korea, Sven Olin, Danish Ambassador to Korea, and about 200 officials from the offshore wind industry and related organizations.

Following the inauguration ceremony, a kickoff briefing was held for the public-led offshore wind farm development support project currently being promoted for the floating offshore wind farm complex in Shinan County.


Subsequently, a presentation was given by the service provider regarding the impact on fisheries, local acceptance surveys, preliminary permit reviews for offshore wind farm development, and the establishment of a basic development plan for the wind farm complex.


In his inaugural speech, Yoo Tae-seung, co-CEO of COP Korea, said, “It is an honor to be elected as the chairman company of the Shinan Floating Offshore Wind Industry Association, which is leading the domestic offshore wind industry, at a very important time when demands for carbon neutrality, energy transition, and energy security are intensifying both domestically and internationally. During my term, as the chairman company, I will focus all my capabilities on revitalizing local offshore wind projects by uniting five power generation companies, businesses, and Shinan County, establishing and utilizing various supply chains in Shinan, Jeonnam region, and nationwide, strengthening active communication and cooperation with local communities and fishermen, and fostering local talent to promote offshore wind power generation and regional economic revitalization in Shinan County.”


The Shinan Floating Offshore Wind Industry Association consists of four offshore wind power companies including COP Korea, four general companies, and Shinan County as member companies. The association was formed to promote the offshore wind power industry by securing acceptance from residents and fishermen and establishing a cooperative system for grid connection in accordance with the promotion of the Heuksan area offshore wind power project.
