This contract is a follow-up to the memorandum of agreement (MOA) signed by Hanwha Ocean with a Middle Eastern shipping company on February 29 for 12 LNG carriers. Both parties are currently reviewing the details ahead of signing the main contract for the remaining four vessels.

Hanwha Ocean did not disclose the counterparty, but considering the order volume, it is presumed to be QatarEnergy, the Qatar state-owned energy company.

With this contract, Hanwha Ocean has secured orders for 12 vessels worth 2.35 billion USD (approximately 3.154 trillion KRW) so far this year. By vessel type, the orders include eight LNG carriers, two very large crude carriers (VLCC), and two very large ammonia carriers (VLAC).
