20s Man Urgently Arrested for Stabbing Girlfriend and Her Mother with a Bladed Weapon in Hwaseong

Girlfriend Stabbed with a Weapon in Critical Condition

A man in his 20s who attempted to kill his cohabiting girlfriend and her mother with a weapon was arrested by the police.

The Hwaseong Western Police Station in Gyeonggi Province is investigating Mr. A on suspicion of attempted murder as of the 25th. Mr. A is accused of stabbing his girlfriend, a woman in her 20s named Ms. B, and her mother, a woman in her 50s named Ms. C, with a weapon at an officetel located in Bongdam-eup, Hwaseong City, around 9:40 a.m. that day.

Ms. B, who was stabbed in the chest, was transported to the hospital in cardiac arrest and is currently receiving treatment. She is reported to be in critical condition. Ms. C, who suffered severe injuries to both sides of her torso from the weapon wielded by Mr. A, was also taken to the hospital. Fortunately, Ms. C is conscious. Police, who responded to Ms. C’s report, arrested Mr. A at the security office near the first floor of the officetel as a suspect caught in the act.

The incident occurred after Ms. C visited the officetel where Mr. A and Ms. B were living together. A dispute arose among them, and according to the police investigation so far, Mr. A committed the crime using a weapon that was inside the residence. However, since Mr. A also sustained injuries to his hand, the police plan to focus on clarifying the detailed circumstances of the incident, including the motive.

The police intend to apply for an arrest warrant for Mr. A as soon as the investigation is completed.
