Former National Intelligence Service Director Park Ji-won, known as a "political master," has declared his candidacy for the 22nd National Assembly election, drawing nationwide attention to the Jeonnam Haenam-Wando-Jindo electoral district, where People Power Party candidate Kwak Bong-geun has also thrown his hat into the ring.

Candidate Park Ji-won served as a four-term National Assembly member in the 14th, 18th, 19th, and 20th sessions. He ran in the 21st National Assembly election in Mokpo as a member of the Minsaeng Party but narrowly lost to Democratic Party candidate Kim Won-i. He is now challenging for a fifth term.

After announcing his intention to run in the electoral district that includes his true hometown, Jindo, leaving his political hometown of Mokpo, Park has been actively campaigning.

His pledge includes the early construction of a KTX line that currently operates in Mokpo, extending through Haenam and Wando to Jeju, thereby ushering in the KTX era for Haenam and Wando.

People Power Party candidate Kwak Bong-geun, a native of Jindo, Jeonnam, previously served as the head of the Vocational Headquarters for former presidential candidate Yoon Seok-yeol and currently serves as an advisor to the People Power Party's National Policy Advisory Committee.

Kwak pledged to promote sports centers in Haenam, Wando, and Jindo to improve residential conditions.

The candidate lineup for the April 10 general election in the Jeonnam Haenam-Wando-Jindo electoral district has been finalized, and voters will deliver their verdict on April 10.
