Gyeonggi Province will intensively crack down on illegal activities by hygiene product companies.
The Gyeonggi Province Special Judicial Police announced on the 24th that from April 1 to 19, they will conduct a focused crackdown on illegal activities targeting hygiene product manufacturers, importers, and sanitary towel processing companies.
The main crackdown items include ▲ unreported business operations ▲ violations of standards and specifications ▲ violations of hygiene product labeling standards ▲ violations of mandatory self-quality inspections ▲ violations of business operator compliance requirements.

According to the current "Hygiene Products Control Act," penalties of up to one year imprisonment or fines up to 10 million KRW are imposed for cases such as operating without facilities meeting the facility standards for each business type or without reporting, importing hygiene products without reporting, selling or manufacturing/importing/displaying hygiene products that do not meet standards and specifications for sale, violating business operator compliance requirements such as failing to prepare raw material transaction documents like production/work logs, storing or selling hygiene products that do not meet item-specific labeling standards, or failing to conduct self-quality inspections of hygiene products either directly or by consignment.
Gyeonggi Province plans to conduct random sampling and testing for safety verification of food service industry wet wipes and sanitary towels among hygiene products, and will notify the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety of any non-compliant products to ensure their recall.
Additionally, companies caught during this crackdown will be subject to administrative sanctions requested from the relevant administrative authorities, and strict measures such as filing charges against offenders will be taken.
Hong Eun-gi, head of the Special Judicial Police of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "With the revision of the Judicial Police Duties Act, the Hygiene Products Control Act has also been included within the scope of special judicial police duties," adding, "We will do our best to alleviate public concerns about the safety of frequently used hygiene products and create a safe environment that residents can trust and use with confidence."
