Damyang-gun "Apply for 2024 Forestry and Forest Public Direct Payment"

From April 1 to 30

Jeonnam Damyang-gun (Governor Lee Byeong-no) announced on the 21st that applications for the 2024 Forestry and Forest Public Direct Payment (hereinafter referred to as ‘Forestry Direct Payment’) will be accepted from the 1st to the 30th of next month.

The Forestry Direct Payment system is a program that provides direct payments to forestry workers who are actually engaged in forestry and comply with the requirements on forest land where forestry business registration was completed between April 1, 2019, and September 30, 2022.

In its third year of implementation, the Forestry Direct Payment system paid approximately 300 million KRW to 105 local forestry workers last year.

Forestry workers who wish to apply for the Forestry Direct Payment must submit the registration application and related documents to the town or township office that has jurisdiction over the location of the forest land within the application period. Starting this year, applications can also be submitted online through the ‘Forestry-in Integrated Portal’.

This year, applicants should be aware of major changes compared to last year, such as the relaxation of forestry work criteria and the increase in payment rates for small-scale forestry households.

If there are any changes in the registered details, such as changes in forestry business items or additional areas, applicants must contact the local forest service office or national forest management office before applying to complete the forestry business registration change.

Once the Forestry Direct Payment application is completed, eligibility will be verified to finalize the recipients, followed by income verification and compliance inspections. Based on these results, the Forestry Direct Payment is planned to be disbursed between October and November.

Lee Byeong-no, Governor of Damyang-gun, said, “Since the application period for the Forestry Direct Payment is only one month in April this year, I hope applicants check the eligibility requirements and required documents in advance to avoid missing out on the benefits.” He added, “We will continue to gather opinions to make policies that forestry workers can be more satisfied with in the future.”
