The Only 7-Seater Electric SUV in Its Class... Peugeot 'New E-5008' Unveiled

Peugeot unveiled a 7-seater electric sport utility vehicle (SUV) designed based on Stellantis' electrification platform to the world.

On the 20th (local time), Peugeot revealed the 7-seater pure electric SUV 'New Peugeot E-5008 SUV' (hereinafter New E5008).

The 'New E5008' is manufactured based on Stellantis' dedicated electric vehicle platform 'STLA Medium.' It can travel up to 660 km according to the Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP) standards. It is the only 7-seater model in the European C-segment market (length between 3850mm and 4300mm).

It features a more robust and refined design compared to the previous generation model. It combines the inherent dynamism of an SUV with the sophistication expected of Peugeot's top-tier segment model.

The front grille is designed to harmonize with the thin black band wrapping around the front of the New E5008. The headlights use ultra-compact LED units. The GT trim comes standard with pixel LED technology that automatically adjusts the headlights according to traffic conditions to avoid disturbing other drivers' vision.

The interior adopts the 'Panoramic i-Cockpit' first introduced in the 'New E3008 SUV.' The GT trim comes standard with a '21-inch HD Panoramic Screen' that integrates the functions of the head-up display (HUD) and a large central touchscreen. Ambient LED lighting is installed below the screen. In the center of the dashboard, there is an 'i-Toggle' that allows the driver to customize 10 different functions according to their preferences. A large panoramic glass roof provides natural light up to the third row.

The second row offers ample legroom thanks to a generous wheelbase and features a 60:40 folding bench sliding seat. To facilitate easier access to the third-row seats, an 'Easy Access' system is equipped, allowing the second-row seatbacks to be fully tilted forward by pressing a button located on the seatback. The trunk space expands from a minimum of 259 liters to a maximum of 1815 liters depending on the seat configuration.

The drivetrain uses permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) technology. The two-wheel-drive models are equipped with electric motors producing maximum outputs of 157 kW and 170 kW. The dual-motor all-wheel-drive model delivers a maximum output of 237 kW.

The battery capacity is 98 kWh. It can travel up to 660 km on a single charge. With fast charging, it can cover 100 km in just 10 minutes. It charges from 20% to 80% in 30 minutes. The battery is produced at the Debuain Gigafactory in France by 'ACC,' a joint venture with Total. The 'Peugeot Allure Care' program guarantees performance for 8 years or 160,000 km.

Several technologies are installed to maximize the driving experience. The generative artificial intelligence (AI) service ChatGPT is integrated into the 'i-Connect Advanced,' which allows control of convenience features through conversational interaction via the 'OK Peugeot Voice Assistant.' The optional 'VisioPark 360,' based on four cameras and 12 sensors, provides a 360-degree field of view.

Additionally, 'Drive Assist Plus 2.0' includes advanced assistance features such as adaptive cruise control (including stop and go), lane keeping assist, semi-autonomous lane change, and early speed recommendation.

Eco-friendly materials are extensively used. Environmentally friendly steel and aluminum are actively utilized, and more than 30 polymer parts made from eco-friendly materials are adopted. The bumper, deflector, storage compartments, and carpets are made from recycled plastics. All chrome-plated parts on the exterior have been removed.

The 'New E5008' is produced at the Sochaux plant in France and will be sold worldwide starting this fall. It is available in two versions, Allure and GT, with a choice of three electric motors. Besides the pure electric version, there are also 48V hybrid and plug-in hybrid models.
