Dobong-gu Rolls Up Sleeves to Improve Workplaces for Platform Workers

Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) announced that its project, "Let's Create Together! Safe Delivery Culture," has been finally selected in the Ministry of Employment and Labor's 'Platform Workers Workplace Improvement Support Project' competition, securing a project budget of 14 million KRW.

With this selection, the district will newly implement 'Safety Education for Delivery Platform Workers' starting this year.

The education aims to prevent safety accidents by providing safety training tailored to the characteristics of delivery platform workers and to create a safe delivery culture where both drivers and pedestrians coexist safely.

The training will be conducted quarterly at the Dobong-gu Mobile Workers' Shelter. The education program will consist of customized training for delivery platform workers and safety education in cooperation with the local police station.

Delivery platform workers who complete the training will receive safety supplies, and starting from the second half of this year, cafe vouchers usable at local cafes will be provided through agreements with cafes.

Following the establishment of a shelter for mobile workers under Dobong Station in September last year, the district plans to set up shelters for delivery platform workers by region this year. Agreements with cafes in each neighborhood are currently underway, and the district expects these shelters to be available as early as the second half of this year.

Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, "This selection in the competition has empowered us to promote projects that enhance the rights and interests of platform workers," adding, "We will continue to strive to improve working conditions so that platform workers can work safely and comfortably within the community."
