The government has announced that it will support and nurture the defense industry as much as the semiconductor industry, drawing attention to Haesung TPC, which is currently pursuing a change of major shareholders.
According to industry sources on the 20th, Haesung TPC, a specialist in reducers, plans to promote cutting-edge new businesses such as autonomous driving robots and drones centered around Tiger Robotics.
On the previous day, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy held a meeting with major defense companies and hosted a presentation on last year's civil-military technology cooperation achievements.
This year, the Ministry plans to prepare a roadmap for developing 60 core technologies in five key areas?space, artificial intelligence, manned-unmanned complex systems, semiconductors, and robotics?by the first half of the year, gather opinions from the defense industry, and actively consider adding defense to the national advanced strategic industries.
In light of this news, attention appears to be focused on Haesung TPC, which recently disclosed changes in management rights and its board of directors.
Haesung TPC recently announced changes in management rights along with the list of board members. The company name was also finally changed from the initially proposed Ares Aero Robotics to "Haesung Aero Robotics."
The acquiring party, led by Kim Myung-ho, CEO of Tiger Robotics, and Kim Yong-woo, former Army Chief of Staff and currently an advisor to the Korea Robotics Society, stated, "We will transform into a cutting-edge defense company," adding, "Due to low birth rates and an aging population, our Ministry of National Defense has been planning to deploy AI robots and drones in actual operations and has been conducting research and field tests."
The acquiring party also stated, "Currently, sales of reducers for robots at Haesung TPC account for less than 1%, but in the future, they will make up more than 50%."
