Shilla Myeon "Hong Kong Chek Lap Kok Airport Concession Extended for 3 Years"... Until 2027

Incheon and Singapore Changi Continue
Stable Rights for Asia's Top 3 Airport Projects

Shilla Duty Free, operated by Hotel Shilla, announced on the 20th that it has extended its concession for cosmetics, perfume, fashion, and accessories stores at Hong Kong Chek Lap Kok International Airport for three years, operating until September 30, 2027. With this, Shilla Duty Free has securely secured business rights at Asia's three major hub airports: Incheon International Airport (until June 30, 2033), Singapore Changi International Airport (until March 31, 2028), and Hong Kong Chek Lap Kok International Airport (until September 30, 2027).

Previously, Shilla Duty Free won the concession to operate duty-free stores in the cosmetics, perfume, fashion, and accessories category at Hong Kong Chek Lap Kok International Airport in 2017, competing against global duty-free operators such as Dufry and DFS. Based on the mutual cooperative relationship maintained over the past seven years, Hong Kong Airport Authority and Shilla Duty Free agreed to extend the operation period by three years through mutual consultation.

Shilla Myeon "Hong Kong Chek Lap Kok Airport Concession Extended for 3 Years"... Until 2027

Following the four-year extension last year of the cosmetics and perfume store concession at Singapore Changi International Airport, Shilla Duty Free has extended its operation at Hong Kong Chek Lap Kok International Airport, thereby strengthening its global business by continuing duty-free operations at Asia’s three major international hub airports, including Incheon International Airport, Singapore Changi International Airport, and Hong Kong Chek Lap Kok International Airport. As of last year, the combined annual passenger traffic at these three airports exceeds 150 million.

The Shilla Duty Free store at Hong Kong Chek Lap Kok International Airport, whose operation has been extended this time, spans approximately 3,300㎡ (about 1,000 pyeong) and includes a total of six stores in both departure and arrival halls. It houses around 200 brands of cosmetics, perfume, fashion, and accessories, including global top brands such as Chanel, Dior, Est?e Lauder, and Lanc?me, as well as Korean cosmetics brands like Sulwhasoo, Whoo, and Laneige. Additionally, through renovations in the first half of this year, digital elements have been introduced to present a new store concept. A niche perfume brand zone featuring trending brands such as Le Labo, Kilian, Penhaligon’s, and Creed has been created to offer travelers a new shopping experience.

Meanwhile, in the 2022 global duty-free store rankings released last year, two domestic duty-free stores were included in the top four. Shilla Duty Free ranked 4th, while China Duty Free Group (CDFG) took 1st place, Swiss Dufry ranked 2nd, and Lotte Duty Free was 3rd.

Kang Sang-ho, head of Shilla Duty Free’s Hong Kong branch, said, “We deeply appreciate that this concession extension has further solidified the trust between Shilla Duty Free and Hong Kong Airport Authority and enabled us to establish a mid- to long-term partnership. Together with global brand partners worldwide, we will continue to provide differentiated shopping experiences based on Shilla’s expertise as a global duty-free operator at Asia’s largest hub airports.”
