‘CEO Lecture for Major Accident Prevention’
The Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency under the Ministry of Employment and Labor will conduct an Industrial Safety Diagnosis Focus Week to promote the Industrial Safety Diagnosis and encourage workplace participation in order to prevent major accidents.
The Industrial Safety Diagnosis is a project that uses a simple self-diagnosis checklist consisting of 10 items to self-assess the establishment and implementation of safety and health management systems, and aims to improve safety levels and prevent accidents by linking with government-tailored support projects. To this end, the Industrial Safety Diagnosis Counseling and Support Center is in operation, providing guidance on customized support for each workplace.
The Industrial Safety Diagnosis Focus Week is divided into two periods: the first from March 18 to 22 and the second from April 15 to 19, targeting workplaces that are not linked to government support projects.
Sequential telephone guidance will be provided mainly to workplaces with 20 or more employees that have safety and health management personnel, and a two-person patrol team will be formed and operated to encourage high-risk workplaces to participate mandatorily in the Industrial Safety Diagnosis.
In addition, Gong Heung-du, head of the Busan Regional Headquarters of the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency, will conduct a joint labor-management diagnosis expansion campaign for the spread of the Industrial Safety Diagnosis on March 26. The head and 26 staff members will visit workplaces in the Jeonggwan General Industrial Complex in Gijang-gun to provide focused promotion, including explanations and the purpose of the Industrial Safety Diagnosis.
Head Gong said, “Through the operation of the Industrial Safety Diagnosis Focus Week, more workplaces will realize the importance of safety and health and strive to create safe workplaces,” adding, “The diagnosis expansion campaign will be a good opportunity to reflect the voices from the field in the agency’s projects,” and pledged to devote all efforts to accident prevention.
