Up to 20 Million KRW per Young Entrepreneur
Applications Accepted In-Person Until April 12
Gwangyang City in Jeollanam-do announced that it will recruit young entrepreneurs who are preparing to start a business or are interested in starting a business to participate in the "Support Project for Young Entrepreneurs Utilizing Vacant Stores in Urban Areas" until April 12.
This project selects five young people aged 18 to 45 who currently reside or plan to reside in Gwangyang City as of the announcement date and provides up to 20 million KRW per person in startup support funds, including remodeling costs and rent necessary in the early stages of starting a business, along with entrepreneurship education.
Those planning to reside must complete their move-in registration to Gwangyang City within one month from the date they are finally selected as young entrepreneurs.
The recruitment fields cover all sectors except for some unsuitable industries such as entertainment and gambling businesses, and public interest projects such as welfare facilities, including the 6th industry, manufacturing/technology startups, knowledge/general startups, and more.
However, it should be noted that those who are enrolled in employment insurance or have business registration as of the announcement date, regular university (graduate) students and those on leave, tax delinquents, and those participating in similar overlapping projects are excluded from support.
Young entrepreneurs wishing to apply should prepare the required documents and visit the Youth Job Division of Gwangyang City Hall to submit them from March 18 to April 12.
Kim Myung-duk, head of the Youth Job Division, said, "We hope that young talents with promising business ideas will receive subsidy support through this project and contribute to job creation and revitalization of the local commercial district," adding, "We will continue to strive to create an environment where young people with innovative ideas can start businesses."
Meanwhile, Gwangyang City has supported a total of 22 entrepreneurs from 2019 to 2023, including those in beauty salons, flower cafes, tofu manufacturing, and furniture workshops, and plans to prepare various support measures such as meetings and installation of operation signboards to help ensure successful operation after startup.
