Yeongyang-gun, Full Effort to Achieve 'Zero Wildfires'

Yeongyang-gun, Gyeongbuk is making every effort to create a fire-free Yeongyang-gun by selecting and operating three teams of 33 members of the specialized wildfire prevention and suppression squad, and 78 town and township wildfire monitors to prevent wildfires during the dry spring season.

Wildfires mainly occur from February to May when fire sources from burning agricultural waste and household waste spread to the mountains, so the attention of the residents is required.


Accordingly, the Yeongyang-gun Forest and Greenery Division is making every effort to prevent wildfires, and to reduce wildfires caused by carelessness, those responsible for wildfires caused by illegal burning will be thoroughly investigated and sent to the prosecution. If caught burning within 100 meters of the forest, a zero-tolerance response will be applied with fines imposed.


In addition, Yeongyang-gun is mobilizing the specialized wildfire prevention and suppression squad and wildfire monitors to frequently patrol wildfire risk areas within the jurisdiction, focusing on wildfire guidance and prevention activities.


County Governor O Do-chang said, “Since most wildfires occur due to carelessness, I ask the residents to always be cautious to protect our precious forest resources,” and added, “We will continue proactive measures to prevent wildfires to protect our mountains and forests.”
