Recruiting about 50 students in grades 3-6 residing in Yangcheon-gu attending Deungma, Deungchon, and Woljeong Elementary Schools until March 26... Participate in Yangcheon Dream Tree newsletter corner selection, article writing, and major district activities exploration
Apply on the district office website, individual notification of selection results in early next month
Yangcheon-gu (District Mayor Lee Gi-jae) announced that it is recruiting 50 members for the "20th Dream Tree Children Reporters" by the 26th of this month to promote the participation of local elementary school students and parents in district administration and to deliver district news creatively from the children's perspective.
Since 2005, the district has been publishing the "Yangcheon Dream Tree Newsletter" quarterly, providing child-tailored information on education, cultural projects, and more, and has produced 1,115 children reporters to date.
The Dream Tree Children Reporters participate directly in the entire newsletter production process, from topic selection to article writing, delivering vivid local information. Through this, they cultivate a sense of responsibility, increase interest in district administration, and serve as a platform for exchange and communication among members, receiving great support from the local community.
The recruitment target for the 20th Dream Tree Children Reporters includes 3rd to 6th-grade students residing in Yangcheon-gu who attend any of the 30 local elementary schools or Deungma, Deungchon, and Woljeong Elementary Schools. The district plans to select up to 50 students, with 1 to 2 students per school.
The application period is until the 26th of this month. Those wishing to apply should refer to the notice on the district office website, complete the application form, and submit it online through the integrated reservation portal. If the number of applicants is insufficient, school principal recommendations will be considered. After document screening, up to two students per school will be selected based on the highest scores, and the results will be individually notified on April 8.
Selected Dream Tree Reporters will serve a one-year term from April 20 to next April and will have opportunities to experience major district activities. Articles written by the Dream Tree Children Reporters covering district policies, facilities, and locations will go through an internal editorial committee and be published in the Dream Tree Newsletter, with a small honorarium provided.
Lee Gi-jae, Mayor of Yangcheon-gu, said, "The Dream Tree Children Reporters' activities will be a great opportunity to experience a sense of achievement and fulfillment by creating a newsletter representing our region with their own hands," and added, "We encourage many interested children to apply."
