"Stop Wildfires" ... Goseong-gun Conducts Public-Private Joint 'Wildfire Prevention Promotion Activities' Wildfire Prevention Publicity Campaign.

The publicity campaign held on the 16th was organized to prevent large-scale forest fires in advance, such as illegal burning during the spring season, as the national crisis alert level was recently raised to 'Caution' and the risk of large forest fires nationwide increased due to continued dry weather.

It was also intended to raise awareness of the dangers of forest fires through joint public-private wildfire prevention activities and to foster a consensus and participation atmosphere among local residents regarding forest fire prevention.

On the day, participants distributed promotional materials to hikers and conducted guidance activities to encourage visitors to actively participate in forest fire prevention, urging them to ▲ refrain from cooking activities in the forest ▲ not smoke ▲ prohibit carrying fire sources when entering the forest ▲ and ban burning activities in forest-adjacent areas.

Furthermore, it was announced that if illegal burning is detected within 100 meters of the forest (forest-adjacent area), a fine of 300,000 KRW will be imposed according to Article 57 of the Forest Protection Act, and if a forest fire spreads due to negligence, imprisonment of up to three years and a fine of up to 30 million KRW may be imposed.

A county official stated, “As forest fires have become year-round and larger in scale recently, thorough preparation is necessary. Through this publicity campaign, we aim to raise awareness of forest fires and emphasize the importance of prevention,” adding, “We will do our best to prevent forest fires through various activities, including campaigns to eradicate arson and burning by hikers.”
