Eunpyeong-gu Selected as an 'Excellent Institution' for Three Consecutive Years in Active Administration Comprehensive Evaluation

"The Only One Among Seoul's Autonomous Districts"

Seoul Eunpyeong-gu (District Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) announced on the 19th that it has been selected as an 'Excellent Institution' in the '2023 Local Government Proactive Administration Comprehensive Evaluation' hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.

Eunpyeong-gu is the only autonomous district in Seoul to be selected as an ‘Excellent Institution for Proactive Administration’ for three consecutive years, following 2021 and 2022. The ‘Proactive Administration Comprehensive Evaluation’ is conducted by a comprehensive evaluation team composed of general citizens and private experts, who assess local governments' efforts to promote proactive administration. Based on the results, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety selects excellent institutions.

The district received excellent evaluations across all assessment indicators, including ▲establishment of proactive administration promotion plans ▲efforts to activate proactive administration ▲performance of proactive administration implementation ▲and the perceived impact of proactive administration.

In particular, efforts to establish a proactive administration promotion system were highly rated, such as ▲introduction and operation of proactive administration support systems (including proactive administration exemption officers, proactive administration mileage, and support for lawsuits involving proactive administration officials) ▲efforts to select outstanding proactive administration officials (reflecting residents’ and employees’ perceptions) ▲and efforts to establish and organize the Proactive Administration Committee (composed mainly of legal and administrative experts).

Eunpyeong-gu has contributed to expanding its finances by actively and promptly collecting 950 million KRW in long-term overdue taxes, and has been dedicated to practicing administration that residents can feel and be satisfied with, such as proactively identifying blind spots in road safety within school zones to prevent child traffic accidents.

Kim Mi-kyung, Mayor of Eunpyeong-gu, said, “Being the only autonomous district in Seoul to be selected as an excellent institution for proactive administration for three consecutive years is a recognition of our continuous efforts to practice ‘resident satisfaction administration’ that residents can truly feel.” She added, “We will continue to do our best to practice proactive administration in all areas of administration and make Eunpyeong-gu an even better place to live.”
