The 'Gyeonggi-do Forced Mobilization Victims Support Committee' held its first meeting on the 18th and officially began its activities.
The Gyeonggi-do Forced Mobilization Victims Support Committee was newly formed following the revision of the 'Ordinance on Support for Forced Mobilization Victims during the Japanese Colonial Period in Gyeonggi-do' in October last year. It serves an advisory role regarding the collection and analysis of domestic and international data related to forced mobilization victims.
Gyeonggi-do expects that the committee's activities will help restore the honor of victims and casualties of forced mobilization, heal the suffering of their bereaved families, and contribute to establishing a correct historical awareness among Gyeonggi-do residents.
At its first meeting, the Support Committee discussed this year's operational plan and the direction for the 'Policy Research Project on Forced Mobilization Victims in Gyeonggi-do.'

The policy research project on forced mobilization victims in Gyeonggi-do aims to identify the status of victims, for which no basic data has existed until now, and to establish a comprehensive and systematic support plan.
The Support Committee is composed of nine experts related to forced mobilization victims, and through an election, Professor Emeritus Hong Soon-kwon of Dong-A University was appointed as the chairperson. The term is two years until March 17, 2026, with one possible reappointment.
