From Pet Festival to Christmas Market... Yangcheon-gu Hosts Four-Season Festivals 2022 Healing Park Day Family Festival

Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Lee Gi-jae) announced that it will create a "cultural attraction city" full of fun and enjoyment throughout the four seasons by significantly expanding the scale of its "signature festival branding" while reflecting the unique characteristics of the region.

The district has been focusing on fostering substantial festivals that incorporate excellent specialized resources and cultural capabilities of each area, breaking away from uniform and standardized festivals. To this end, it has encouraged the integration of festival living zones among neighboring areas and plans to offer citizens unique enjoyment at the peak of each season by distributing festival dates according to their characteristics.

Pet Culture Festival ? The largest-ever pet-specialized festival to be held at Mokdong Rodeo Fashion Street

In the era of 15 million pet owners, the largest-ever "Pet Culture Festival" will be held in Yangcheon-gu this coming June. This specialized festival highlights Yangcheon-gu’s unique dog-shaped terrain and will be held at the Rodeo Fashion Street near Mokdong Station, where there is a high flow of people, to increase accessibility for citizens. It will be composed of five diverse themes related to pets, including experiences, consultations, play, and education.

In particular, trendy pop-up stores that will attract pet owners’ attention, as well as abundant cultural performances and events that both pet owners and non-pet owners can enjoy together, are prepared, positioning the festival as a convergent urban event.

Children’s Water Playground Opening ? A free urban summer retreat continuing the summer festival atmosphere

During the scorching heat of July and August, a free children’s water playground, an urban retreat for family visitors, will open to continue the summer festival atmosphere. The water playground will feature air pools, modular swimming pools, and air slides (slides) to maximize fun, and safety personnel will be stationed to ensure children can use the facilities safely. Since demand for water play is high in summer, the district plans to significantly expand opening hours and frequency, operating mainly on weekdays and weekends except Mondays.

Rock (樂) Festival ? Powerful rock performances overcoming aircraft noise

In September, the Sinwol-dong area will host the "2024 Rock (樂) Festival" themed around rock performances that overcome aircraft noise. This is a unique attempt to turn the vulnerability of Sinwol-dong, an area affected by aircraft noise, into an attractive element of the festival by combining it with rock music. Starting with rock performances by famous musicians, the festival will include performances by local artists and a picnic zone for families, providing an opportunity to rediscover Sinwol-dong.

Paris Park Cultural Festival ? A French cultural experience festival elevated to a district-level event

In September, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Korea-France diplomatic relations, the Paris Park, which has been newly renovated, will host the "Paris Park Cultural Festival," elevated to a representative district-level festival, presenting a new look to residents.

With the theme of regional festivals representing France, various sculptures and event booths that depict a small France in the urban park are expected to fill autumn with emotion. Additionally, there will be ▲ jazz busking ▲ painters of Montmartre Hill (art market) ▲ French flea market ▲ traditional French wine tasting from Bordeaux and Burgundy paired with food sampling ▲ Korea-France cultural experience booths (music, food, etc.) and many other exotic and unique programs.

Yangcheon Festival ? Rebranding of Yangcheon-gu’s representative festival

At the peak of autumn in late October, the "Yangcheon Festival (tentative name)" is scheduled to take place, marking the pinnacle of Yangcheon-gu’s cultural festivals. It will debut in the second half of this year to cultivate a representative cultural festival brand associated with Yangcheon-gu. The festival will offer a comprehensive cultural experience and regional economic revitalization through high-quality cultural and artistic performances, busking, experiential booths, various markets, rides, and food stalls.

4th Bicenara Festival ? A romantic light festival and Christmas market to brighten winter nights

The "Bicenara Festival," which once offered a romantic spectacle of lights on winter nights, will return to residents in December with an expanded scale. Various types of landscape lighting and sculptures, including tree and string lights, will be installed to illuminate the park, and the festival will open with musical performances and a lighting ceremony to warm the winter nights.

Notably, this festival aims to evolve from a primarily visual light sculpture exhibition to a sensory-rich specialized festival centered on resident participation by newly introducing a "Christmas Market." The "Christmas Market" will consist of a food market selling winter snacks and a market selling handmade crafts and accessories.

Lee Gi-jae, Mayor of Yangcheon-gu, said, "We will offer citizens fun and charm unique to Yangcheon-gu throughout the four seasons with specialized festivals filled with the region’s style, taste, attractions, and entertainment."
