On the 18th at around 1:30 PM, Yoo held a press conference at the Seoul Central District Court in Seocho-dong, Seoul, stating, "I will withdraw my candidacy for the 22nd National Assembly preliminary election and humbly focus on the trial I am currently undergoing," and added, "I hope you will support Minister Won Hee-ryong, who served as Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport."

He first explained his reason for withdrawing, saying, "I want to humbly focus on the trial I am currently undergoing."

Yoo also criticized Representative Lee, saying, "Representative Lee uses power for personal purposes, regards the people as cattle and dogs, deceives them, and lacks the knowledge and ability to be entrusted with the country." He then emphasized, "Please support candidate Won Hee-ryong, who served as Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, so that he can be elected."

Yoo, who is on trial together with Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, over allegations of preferential treatment in the Daejang-dong development project, officially declared his candidacy for Gyeyang-eul last month on the 14th by joining the Liberty Unification Party led by Pastor Jeon Kwang-hoon.
