Next-Generation Technology Launch Event in Korea on the 18th
James Dyson, Founder, Visits Korea After 4 Years and 6 Months
'Supersonic Neural Hair Dryer' Unveiled
James Dyson, the chief engineer and founder of the global home appliance company Dyson, made a surprise visit to Korea after more than five years. He came to attend the launch event of a new hairdryer product, which was unveiled for the first time in Korea.
On the 18th, James Dyson attended Dyson's next-generation technology launch event held at XYZ Seoul in Seongsu-dong, Seoul, where he revealed the new product, the 'Supersonic Neural Hairdryer.'

James Dyson took the stage with a greeting of "Hello," presented the development history of Dyson's hair products, then personally demonstrated the new product on a model's hair and explained its core technology.
This was James Dyson's first visit to Korea specifically for a product launch. It was his second visit to Korea in five years since 2019, when he gave a lecture at Yonsei University. This move is interpreted as a recognition of the growth potential of the Korean beauty market. In fact, the Korean market is known to account for just over 10% of Dyson's global sales.
James Dyson explained, "If heat damage can be prevented, healthier scalp and hair can be achieved," adding, "Dyson's new Supersonic Neural Hairdryer is equipped with a ToF (Time of Flight) sensor that measures the distance between the device and the hair, reducing heat as it gets closer to the hair to help prevent heat damage to the scalp and hair."
He emphasized, "Dyson's innovation comes from investment in research and development," and added, "Our obsession with deeply understanding the root causes of problems consumers face has led to the establishment of precise hair research laboratories worldwide."

He also announced plans to invest 500 million pounds (approximately 847.8 billion KRW) in hair care products in the future. James Dyson said, "(We) prioritize hair health," and explained, "We are researching what causes hair breakage and maximizes shine, as well as what maintains a clean, moist, and healthy scalp."
The Supersonic Neural Hairdryer unveiled that day offers a scalp protection mode. It measures the distance between the hairdryer and the hair, reducing heat as it gets closer to the hair. The device automatically adjusts the heat as it approaches the hair, maintaining the temperature touching the scalp at 55°C. Although the product can reach up to 100°C, the temperature can be lowered during actual use. When using this mode, the LED light color automatically changes according to the distance between the device and the hair: yellow (low temperature), orange (medium temperature), and red (high temperature).
Additionally, through the styling nozzle running function, the device remembers the last temperature and airflow speed settings for each nozzle and automatically operates accordingly on the next use. The nozzles consist of five types: ▲Gentle Dry Nozzle ▲Styling Concentrator ▲Smoothing Nozzle ▲Flyaway Smoother ▲Dyson Diffuser. The product also features a 'pause detection function' that automatically disables temperature settings and reduces airflow speed and noise when the device is not in use.
The Supersonic Neural Hairdryer is available for purchase starting today on Dyson's official website, Dyson demo stores, and Dyson stores in department stores nationwide. The recommended retail price is 599,000 KRW.
