A retired firefighter has become a hot topic by donating 119 miniature fire trucks collected from around the world to the Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters.
On the 17th, the Fire and Disaster Headquarters announced that Mr. Heo Se-chang (64), who retired after working at Yongin Fire Station in 2015, donated 119 miniature fire trucks collected from various countries to be exhibited at the Fire History Museum, which is opening after relocating to the former Gyeonggi Provincial Council building.
On the 15th, the Fire and Disaster Headquarters held a donation ceremony in the video conference room of the headquarters building in Gwonseon-gu, Suwon, where they presented Mr. Heo with a rescue helmet engraved with the Gyeonggi Fire emblem and expressed their gratitude.
Previously, Mr. Heo had also donated a fire investigation report book written in 1951 to the Suwon Fire Station last year.

Mr. Heo also expressed his intention for three generations of his family?including his wife, son, daughter-in-law, and grandchild?to participate in the Fire and Disaster Headquarters’ representative sharing project, ‘Warm Companion Gyeonggi 119,’ and submitted the application form on the day. Seven members of the Heo family will each donate 119 won daily.
Mr. Heo said, "I had a hobby of collecting miniature fire trucks while traveling around every corner of the world, and I am proud to be able to donate them meaningfully and to have my entire family join the donation movement. Although I retired nine years ago, I always think proudly of Gyeonggi Fire in my heart and will continue to do so," sharing his thoughts.
Cho Sun-ho, head of the Gyeonggi Fire and Disaster Headquarters, said, "Even after retirement, we are deeply grateful for the senior’s dedication as a firefighter who has always taken great interest in and actively participated in the activities of juniors," and promised, "We will create a history museum that can showcase diverse fire service cultures to the residents."
