Discussion with Maritime Traffic Control Center-related Organizations for Spring Marine Accident Safety

The Seohae Regional Coast Guard Agency (Commissioner Kim Inchang) Mokpo Metropolitan Vessel Traffic Service Center (VTS) announced on the 15th that it held a cooperation meeting among VTS users on the 14th to ensure the safety of vessel navigation during adverse weather conditions in the agricultural season.

The meeting was attended by 15 related organizations including local shipyards, shipping companies, and pilots. The VTS shared plans to strengthen vessel traffic control in preparation for adverse weather and requested active cooperation from users to prevent maritime accidents.


The main topics included △proactive provision of weather information for each sea area △the necessity of vessel navigation control for safety during adverse weather conditions (such as limited visibility) △discussion on establishing improvement measures for maritime safety regarding obstacles on routes, vessel navigation methods, and maritime traffic issues caused by illegal fishing activities, as well as efficient port operation.


A representative of the Mokpo Metropolitan Vessel Traffic Service Center (VTS) stated, “We will continue to strengthen the organic cooperation system with VTS users and do our best to prevent maritime accidents by identifying and improving risk factors within the jurisdiction.”
