Mobile Tap Water Diagnosis Service 'Incheon-type Water Care'... Free Water Quality Testing at 30,000 Locations

Incheon City announced on the 14th that it will operate the 'Incheon-type Water Care,' a free tap water diagnosis service.

This service involves visiting water users, including households, to conduct free tap water quality tests and provide guidance to identify and resolve issues such as indoor plumbing diagnostics.

Since 2021, the city has been employing water quality inspectors called Water Coordinators and has operated the program. Up to last year, a total of 124 Water Coordinators conducted 128,248 water quality tests and provided water quality information.

This year, the program targets approximately 30,000 locations, corresponding to 2.2% of water users in the region. Newly hired Water Coordinators underwent preliminary training, including field visits to water purification plants and reservoirs to observe the facilities where tap water is produced and supplied.

The first water quality test covers five items, and results can be received immediately on-site. If any item exceeds the standard, a second test is conducted covering 13 items, including an additional eight items.

The second test is performed by the Clear Water Research Institute, an institution specializing in drinking water quality testing. Applying stricter standards, it not only confirms the safety of tap water but also conducts diagnostic tests to identify the causes of any problems.

Water quality tests can be requested 24 hours a day through the Michuhol Call Center (032-120) or the online 'Water Love Website,' and applications can also be made by phone or visit to the local waterworks office.
