Bonnet Lengthened to Enhance Safety
Hyundai Motor Company unveiled the design of the electric commercial vehicle platform ST1 on the 14th. It is a business platform vehicle based on a chassis cab (a vehicle consisting only of the frame and passenger compartment, without a cargo bed at the rear) that can be expanded into various forms depending on the intended use.
ST1 stands for Service Type 1. It means the first model among business platforms that can be used for necessary purposes. The company explained that the design focuses on safety and practicality. The front features a semi-bonnet type, with about half of the bonnet protruding forward from the passenger compartment to provide space to absorb impact in case of a collision. The ground clearance was lowered to increase cargo bed capacity and to allow workers to get on and off comfortably.
The cargo model with a general cargo bed and the cargo refrigeration model equipped with a refrigerated cargo bed will be released first. They are mainly used for logistics and delivery tasks. During the development stage, domestic distribution companies used the vehicle directly, reflecting their needs. The company plans to disclose key specifications, dimensions, and prices within the first half of this year. It is expected to be launched within the year.
