On the 12th, Ulleung-gun, Gyeongbuk, held a launch ceremony praying for the safety operation and conducted a drone-based fertilizer spraying demonstration at the farm of Lee Jeong-won in Namyang 3-ri, Seomyeon, where a monorail inspection tour for all farms took place.
Ulleung-gun stated, "To ensure timely harvesting of wild vegetables and to address labor shortages, from March 11 to May 31, about three months, Kim Ji-ho, the agricultural machinery officer at the Ulleung-gun Agricultural Technology Center, will personally conduct a monorail inspection tour and safety education for approximately 400 monorails distributed across the area."
Parts related to monorail inspection such as spark plugs, engine oil, and fuel cocks required during the inspection will be provided free of charge up to 100,000 KRW according to the Ulleung-gun Agricultural Machinery Management Ordinance.
Especially starting this year, a pilot project for rapid agricultural machinery repair support will be implemented, where the agricultural machinery officer visits farms to repair equipment for elderly farmers and female farmers who lack transportation, aiming to alleviate their inconveniences.
An official from the Agricultural Technology Center said, "In preparation for poor field conditions and the aging of farmers, we will actively respond to the increasing demand for on-site agricultural machinery repairs and will actively consider plans for compost and fertilizer spraying using drones, in addition to the rental business of small and medium-sized agricultural machinery."
Nam Han-kwon, the county governor, said, "I encourage the agricultural machinery officer who conducts the monorail inspection tour for all farms based on skilled technology, which is indispensable to Ulleung agriculture, and express gratitude to the farmers who protect our county’s agriculture. We will also spare no effort to provide various supports so that farmers facing internal and external difficulties can live well."
